Press – Release:  European Music Day 2017 Official National Programme 

From Prespes to Ancient Olympia, Alexandroupolis to Agios Nikolaos and Corinth to Rhodes, 50 cities will host more than 490 artistic activities (20 groups of percussion and dance, 24 philharmonic and symphonic orchestras, 35 choirs, 95 djs, 367 bands and music ensembles) in more than 218 venues across the 13 regions of Greece.

Altogether, 350 different events make up this year’s European Music Day Artistic program. The organization of the events nationwide for this very special 18th edition is the result of a thrilling cooperative partnership between public and private bodies.

A loud call that urges you to discover the city through music, travel across original and many times unique events, encounter different musical communities with 5 unique days of events, that will bring harmony in our cities and surely change the rhythms of our everyday life.

Cities 2017: Alexandroupoli, Athens, Agioi Saranta (Pilio), Agios Dimitrios, Agios Nikolaos (Creta), Agrinio, Amaliada, Ancient Olympia, Corfou, Corynth, Didymoteicho, Donoussa, Drama, Elefsina, Florina, Halkida, Heraklion, Holargos, Kalampaka, Katerini, Komotini, Kozani, Kythera, Larissa, Lefkada, Lesvos, Levadia, Loutraki, Nafplio, Naxos, Nea Smyrne, Neo Heraklio, Orestiada, Parga, Patras, Peristeri, Prespes, Preveza, Pyrgos, Rhodes, Santorini, Serres, Sounio, Sparti, Soufli, Thessaloniki, Veria, Volos, Vyronas and Xanthi.

The events of the 18th European Music Day will take place across Greece from June 21 to June 25, once again, with hundreds of events scheduled in archaeological sites, public squares, parks, squares, streets, pedestrian streets, gardens and terraces all over Greece.

Stepping on its symbolic adulthood anniversary, the Hellenic network will also present two extraordinary ceremonies, as well as many surprises, always with free entrance, that we invite you to discover,  “walking” from one event to the other, across your city.

This edition spreads overall in 50 cities of the 13 regions of Greece, with more than 218 event venues and over 490 artistic proposals including:

  • 20 percussion & dance companies
  • 24 Philharmonic & Symphonic Orchestras,
  • 35 Choirs,
  • 95 DJs
  • 367 bands and Music Ensembles
